Explore Nature, Culture with the Biking Tour Cuicocha Calera 🚴‍♂️

Are you craving an adventure packed with adrenaline, cultural immersion, and unforgettable scenery? Our Biking Tour Cuicocha Calera is designed for travelers who love cycling and connecting with nature. This thrilling mountain bike journey takes you through the breathtaking volcanic crater lake of Cuicocha and the scenic rural roads that link Cotacachi with its traditional communities.

The Biking Tour Cuicocha Calera begins at 08:00 a.m. with pickup from your hotel in Otavalo, Cotacachi, or La Calera. Accompanied by our expert local guide, you’ll drive 45 minutes to the starting point in the community of Ugshapungo. From there, your biking adventure begins at 3,300 meters above sea level, descending through stunning landscapes to 2,400 meters — an exciting 13 km route through the Ecuadorian Andes.

As part of the Biking Tour Cuicocha Calera, you’ll visit the mystical Cuicocha Lagoon, where you can pause to soak in the views and take memorable photos. The tour continues to the charming town of Cotacachi, renowned for its high-quality leather goods. After a delicious local lunch and some free time to explore the town, you’ll cycle onward to the indigenous community of La Calera.

Here, you’ll be warmly welcomed by a local family dedicated to traditional tagua seed craftwork. This hands-on cultural exchange is one of the most meaningful aspects of the Tour, offering you a chance to understand the rich heritage and everyday life of the Andean people.

We’ll end the day with a comfortable ride back to your hotel. This tour offers more than just cycling — it’s a unique blend of nature, culture, and authentic community experiences. Don’t just hear about it — come ride with us and make memories that last a lifetime! Welcome to Cotacachi and thank you for booking with us. 🚴‍♂️
