4:00 PM: Upon arrival, a group of local women will warmly welcome you with a traditional drink made from golden berries (colada de uvilla), served alongside freshly made tiesto tortillas—a beloved local treat. This heartfelt greeting sets the tone for an authentic cultural experience.

After this welcome gathering, the group will be divided and introduced to their host families. Each visitor will have the opportunity to share in the daily life of a local household, taking part in everyday activities and forming genuine connections with community members.

Note: The welcome ceremony is offered for groups of 8 people or more.

Day 1: Dinner with the Host Family

7:00 PM: Enjoy a shared dinner with your host family—a heartfelt experience where you’ll savor traditional dishes made with fresh, local ingredients. As you dinner, you’ll have the chance to engage in warm conversation, learning more about the family’s daily life, traditions, and the rich culture of the community. After dinner, relax and unwind in your cozy room for a restful night in La Calera.

Día 2. Arado con Yunta

08:00 AM – After enjoying a delicious breakfast with your host family, you’ll be warmly welcomed by your local guide who will introduce you to one of the region’s most time-honored traditions: plowing with oxen. Picture yourself becoming part of this ancestral practice, working the soil alongside two majestic oxen. As you learn and participate in this age-old technique, you’ll feel the heartbeat of the land beneath your feet. It’s a rare and meaningful connection to the past, to nature, and to the community's way of life. This is not just something to observe—it’s something to live.

Day 2: Visit to the Alli Maki Women’s Workshop

09:00 AM – Next, we’ll visit the Alli Maki Women’s Collective, a talented group of artisans dedicated to the craft of hand embroidery. Here, traditional designs are brought to life in beautiful garments and decorative pieces. During your visit, you’ll have the chance to learn and try out the stitching techniques yourself—connecting directly with the artistic legacy and cultural richness of La Calera.

Day 2: Visit to the Cabuya Workshop

10:00 AM – Our journey continues with a stop at the home of a local family, where you’ll discover the fascinating world of cabuya, a natural fiber derived from the agave plant. You’ll see firsthand how this ancient resource is processed—from fiber extraction and natural dyeing to the creation of exquisite handmade crafts. It’s a testament to the community’s ingenuity and deep-rooted traditions.

Day 2: Visit to the Garden of Dreams

11:00 AM – We then arrive at the Botanical Garden, known locally as the "Garden of Dreams." This lush, vibrant space is a sanctuary of traditional natural medicine. You’ll explore a wide variety of medicinal plants, fruit trees, and vegetables while learning about their healing properties. You’ll also meet native animals like the cuy (guinea pig), an important part of both the local diet and culture.

Day 2: Lunch at Rupay Mikuna Community Kitchen

12:20 PM – At midday, we gather at the Rupay Mikuna community kitchen, where a warm welcome and a traditional meal await. Prepared by the women of the community using fresh ingredients from their organic gardens, each dish offers a true taste of local flavors. As you sit at your table, you’ll find a woven bracelet bearing your name—a small but heartfelt gesture that captures the hospitality and craftsmanship of La Calera. It’s a dining experience rich in culture, care, and connection.
